LOCAL GOVERNMENT ATTORNEYS AND ADVOCATES

MARYLAND PUBLIC EDUCATION LAW

Maryland public education law involves much more than familiarity with the Maryland Education Article. To represent public school boards of education effectively and zealously, Board Counsel need to be knowledgeable and experienced in a wide variety of legal areas, including employment law, property law, contracts, labor law negotiations, Constitutional Law, Maryland torts law, civil litigation, State and Federal EEO complaints, worker's compensation, criminal law, juvenile justice, and administrative law. These areas of law often comprise more than 90% of outside Board Counsels' services to local school systems in Maryland.

The attorneys at Schifanelli Law, LLP have more than thirty years combined experience in all of these areas and more. Attorney Marc Schifanelli served the residents of Queen Anne's County for four years as a member and president of his local board of education.  We have represented clients in nearly all areas of Maryland law, including Education.

MARYLAND POLICE ACCOUNTABILITY BOARD MATTERS

The attorneys at Schifanelli Law, LLP are proud to assist local sheriff's departments, municipalities, and others when responding to complaints against deputies or police officers reported to the Maryland Police Accountability Boards and Administrative Charging Committees. Using our deep understanding of the Constitution and Maryland Declaration of Rights, as well as law enforcement priorities and procedures required for successful investigations and arrests, we help sheriffs and chiefs ensure that administrative disciplinary recommendations are both fair and accurate.
